When I’m not behind a computer organising you, I’ll either be letting loose on the dancefloor, meditating, networking or flicking through architectural design websites or having a wander along the beach.
I started my career in the corporate world working as an Administrator, Personal Assistant to Directors and as a Project Business Analyst. This was a steep learning curve into the fast-paced and result-orientated mindset and demands of such a role. I loved it and thrived within it!
MY OWN CREATIVE BUSINESS ITCH
I had always had a creative and entrepreneurial itch which needed scratching so in 2006 I started my own events business. This was another whole new set of exciting challenges and achievements, being responsible for a team of 70, running up to 9 events a week and being everything from the HR director, Event organiser, Marketing manager, Business Development manager, Finance chief, DJ, Roadie and general Skivvy!
SMALL BUSINESS PERSONAL ASSISTANT
As my personal life demanded more me time I downsized this business to stay more local and took on a part-time Personal Assistant role for the Director of a small business.
Once again, another totally different set of organisational skills came leaping forwards for this Director who is a million miles an hour in everything he does, super successful but literally can’t even turn a computer on.
I am his ‘chaos-calmer’. Prioritising his priorities and turning my hand to anything he throws at me from invoicing, diary planning for a team of 10, hiring, researching the latest Christian Louboutins which are his must-have item, arranging his mortgage, selling his eBay stuff, making reservations and just generally being there for him to ‘chuck tasks at’.
Now running the books for 2 companies, I decided to undertake my professional AAT Book-Keeping qualification. I primarily use Xero, but having used a number of packages in the past it wouldn’t take me long to get to grips with your system.
